A Unique Combination of Arts and Events
What better way to learn the arts than to learn it from the experts?
Arts in Taguig City (ATC) prides itself with providing premier education and training to students from the country’s top professionals in the field of the arts.
Opened in April 2009, ATC has become a venue for nurturing the talents of individuals committed to the arts through the collaboration of well-renowned organizations such as Ballet Philippines, Tanghalang Pilipino, and the UP Madrigal Singers.
The school offers a wide array of courses in dance, theater, music and visual arts. All classes are conducted by professionals who are acclaimed leaders in their respective fields. Ballet, Modern Ballet, and Hiphop classes, are taught by instructors from Ballet Philippines. Other dance and exercise classes are taught by qualified guest instructors. Voice and piano classes are conducted by members of the Madrigal Singers, diction and public speaking are handled by members of Tanghalang Pilipino.
The school’s faculty include Rudy Lozano, a prominent composer-arranger who is currently handling guitar lessons; and Ray Gaston, a Filipino artist based in London who is conducting lessons in the visual arts.
“Where else can you find all these companies and instructors under one roof?” said Sandy Hontiveros, Executive Director of ATC. “ATC is unique because it is the only school that offers almost all courses related to the arts in a stress-free environment.”
The courses offered at ATC are open to young and old alike. As Hontiveros said: “No one is too young or too old to learn the arts as long as they have passion for it.” Currently, ATC’s youngest student is four years old and the eldest is 74.
Hontiveros believes that the arts play a significant role in instilling discipline among the youth. “It keeps them away from trouble, plus they learn something they can use forever,” she explained.
ATC features two dance studios, two music rooms, an art gallery and an events hall called the FVR hall, named after former president Fidel V. Ramos. The hall can accommodate roughly 150 people and can be used for small performances and different functions and events.
The school has an outdoor venue where guests can hold tent events and other open-air activities.
ATC is a perfect venue for rehearsals. The lobby offers wifi access, with ample areas for eating or meeting during rehearsal breaks The recently landscaped surroundings provide the appropriate ambience for artists. Recently, former students of St. Scholastica’s College used it as a venue for practice sessions for their activity titled “Kulasa Ka ba?” which aimed to raise funds for the new building of St. Scholastica’s College of Music.
With the vision to develop the future generation of artists and creative professionals, ATC is gearing up to offer masters courses as well as short courses in arts management and other art related studies in the future. All of these while continuously offering the best courses in dance, music, theater and the visual arts for students of all ages.
